Learn something new about the birth of Texas. Stroll through one of the 9 curated areas in the museum depicting different time periods, local heritage, and prominent people who played vital roles in the foundational development of Texas and Brazoria County.

Brazoria Historical Museum is located in the heart of the municipality of Brazoria, Texas.
Stephen F. Austin brought the first 300 Anglo settlers here to colonize what was then Mexico.
This became the seat for farming, shipping, and ranching in the colony.
When the Mexican government began enforcing too many taxes and restrictions on the people, it became the seat of discontent and the Texas Revolution.
African-American Heritage Room
The room on black history represents homage to Black History in Brazoria County. Nearly all of the items on display were donated from resident’s private collections.
The Environmental Room is set up to depict three of the four eco systems in Brazoria County.
The Emancipation Proclamation was read to the slaves under this tree after the Civil War. It can be found in the main hallway in the museum.
This room displays the early Texas history and the foundations of Brazoria County.
This room displays what life would have looked like from the 1920s until the 1950s in homes and classrooms.
This exhibit is dedicated to Dr. Sofie Herzog. She was the first woman railroad surgeon and a prominent Doctor in Brazoria.
Display of the farm and ranches that were prevalent in Brazoria county past and still today.
Displays of antique and vintage quilts, sewing machines, spinning wheels, looms, and notions.
